Lorem Ipsum enables people to ignore the text completely and helps them to focus on the layout only. After all, people are unable to read it. Also, dummy text gives designers a way to show authors the maximum amount of words they are allowed to produce. Some people never heard of using Lorem Ipsum before. We recommend explaining your audience why you are using Lorem Ipsum, before applying it to your designs. It will prevent them from being surprised.
Lorem ipsum is dummy text (placeholder text) used to fill the spaces in graphic communications and publications before the 'real' words are placed. It will draw attention away from words on a page to let people focus on the layout instead. Lorem Ipsum is well suited for this because the words have approximately the same length as normal English words.
Lorem ipsum text only looks like Latin, but actually says nothing. Below a sentence from the book The finibus bonorum et malorum of Marcus Tullius Cicero 45 BC: “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.” The book is about the boundaries of good and evil and loosely translated it means: “There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain.” As you can see, it starts with the same words as the lorem ipsum dummy text used by designers, but it changed over time. Nowadays there are a lot of different lorem ipsum variants, whereby only the first words correspond.
